Our teacher

From the perspective of this blog's writer, I would say that the teacher hoped to orient us to a better life, improving our self expression skills, teaching us how to manage stress and use tools like schedules and memory cards.

I am bringing some of the sayings she brought into our class discussions; I think they portray her hopes of strengthening our self confidence.

She hoped to be transformed by us too. We could feel it and we helped her by actively participating in the discussions.

Together we had a better understanding of the culture shock between the academic world and our lifeworld as young adults, adults, workers, family members, foreigners and friends! I hope you enjoy these saying as much we did!

"Experience is the hardest kind of teacher. It gives you the test first, and the lesson afterward"

" the learner resistance is not something to fear or ignore but to examine and face, this resistance is a process of student transformation in their own empowerment” Dianna P., in an academic report

"Before you become too entranced with gorgeous gadget and mesmerizing video displays, let me remind you that information is not knowledge, knowledge is not wisdom, and wisdom is not foresight. Each grows out the other, and we need them all."

"People remember
10% of what they read
20% of what they hear
30% of what they see
50% of what they hear and see
70% of what they say and write
90% of what they say and do something
95% of what they they teach"
Edgard Dale
